Foggy Morning in Venice, Original

$1,275.00

11×14”

Original Colored Pencil Drawing

This drawing was based on my first adventure to Venice with my parents and sister, Margaret. It was absolutely mesmerizing seeing all of the alleyways, corridors, and canals that Venice features. The one thing that really caught my eye though was how thick the fog could be in Venice.

Looking across the Giudecca Canal, you could not even see the buildings right across the water. I captured this reference on an early Sunday morning stroll and immediately felt the cool and calm of the day.

I felt a quiet stillness. This is something I knew I wanted to capture in a drawing, yet I had never drawn fog with colored pencils before. So this meant taking on a new challenge. Colored pencils are a very linear medium whereas fog appears to be “fluffy”. This meant that there was a lot of blending to create, but in the end it was completely worth the endeavor.

This drawing took 70 hours and 49 colored pencils to create. It also features a small easter egg.

If you are looking to add a quiet stillness to your home, Foggy Morning in Venice would be a great addition for you.
