24×30”
Original Colored Pencil Drawing
This drawing is inspired by my adventure to Austria with my parents and sister, Margaret. Hallstatt was one of those places where I had always wanted to draw. The first time I even saw a picture of it, I knew that one day I would turn it into a drawing. My sister was studying abroad at the time, so it was the perfect opportunity to curate a work trip and capture this reference.
This town was everything a fairytale town would be. The architecture, the colors, the fact it was on a crystal clear lake, the waterfall, the mountains, and all of the people. While being there I had ran into friends I made at the airport which felt even more exciting. We explored all across the town and ate some wonderful local Austrian cuisine.
This drawing ended up being the second largest drawing I have ever done. My husband built me a new drawing desk to work larger so this allowed me to create this beautiful drawing and do all of the details justice.
In total this drawing took 2 months and 93 colored pencils to create. It was quite a feat to take on, but now looking at this drawing I feel the beautiful joy and calmness that this drawing brings. I also can feel the cool wind from the evening slowly coming in as well as smell the crisp air.
If you are looking to add a fairytale destination and feel a sense of crisp joy and peace, this drawing is for you.
