La Cometé, Original

$1,425.00

11×14”

Original Colored Pencil Drawing

This drawing is apart of my Paris Cafe series, something I started back in 2024. I had the opportunity to go back to Paris earlier this year and explore the city with one of my dear friends. During this adventure, I wanted to capture as many references of Paris cafes that caught my inspiration, which now has led to this series.

What caught my eye when creating La Cometé was the rich royal blues of the awnings. In art history, this pigment was so rare that sometimes paintings could not be finished leaving them to tell an even more fascinating story. This drawing, for me, shares just that. This eye popping color pulls you in and feels luxurious. The white and cream surrounding the pops of color also allows this piece to feel so clean and fresh.

In total this drawing took 70 hours and 77 colored pencils to create. I also featured one easter egg, that I am very happy with the creativity involved to include it.

The feeling this drawing gives is rejuvenation for a new day as well as a still calm that you can just soak up the moment. This drawing allows you to feel as if you can sit right along the streets of Paris, all while being in your own home.
