This drawing is a small glimpse into the beautiful town of Hallstatt in Austria. This town sits at the very bottom of a mountain on a lake where I had the opportunity of exploring here with my sister Margaret and my parents. We were absolutely mesmerized by the towns colors as well as its fairytale like qualities.
When creating this drawing, I loved its pop of primary colors as well as the cool undertones. I also enjoyed its simplicity featuring a few of the buildings focusing on their details.
In total this drawing took 40 hours and 57 colored pencils to create. Despite seeing so few main colors in this drawing it still takes a lot of layering to capture something so vivid and realistic.
It is the perfect subtle window of an Austrian town that will allow you to feel as if you are standing right there.
