This drawing was inspired by one of the many adventures my husband and I had on our honeymoon. We had the opportunity of going on a cruise through the Norwegian fjords and one of our stops happened to be in Copenhagen Denmark, a place both of us dreamed of going.
While we were in Copenhagen, it just so happened to be the hottest it had ever been so it was an experience neither of us would ever forget. We truly enjoyed all of the scenery on the water and were mesmerized by the colors and craftsmanship of all of the ships along the docks.
Boats, marinas, and water are some of my favorite things to draw so when I captured this reference with its rich orange tones I knew it would become a drawing. I was also very excited because I had never drawn the inside perspective of a boat before.
In total this drawing took 65 hours and 70 colored pencils to create. When looking at this drawing I am reminded of my time on the water and some of my favorite memories. If you love boats as well as feeling the sense of calm and joy they may bring, this drawing is for you. Allow yourself to escape to true craftsmanship anytime you gaze upon this drawing in your home.
